During Ambassador Nitivadee Manitkul's visit to Iceland on 5 February, 2028, prior to her presentation of her Letter of Credence to the President of Iceland as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Iceland with residence in Oslo, Ambassador Nitivadee paid a courtesy calls on H.E. Mr. Martin Eyjolfsson, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland followed by two more meetings with Mr. Ragnar G. Kristjasson, Director-General of the Department of External Trade and Economic Affairs and with Ms. Anna Hjartardottir, Deputy Director-General of International Affairs and Policy, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland.
During the discussion, both sides emphasized the importance of Thailand-EFTA Free Trade Agreement which was just signed in January this year. Permanent Secretary of Iceland commended Ambassador Nitivadee for coordinating the phone call between the Minister of Trade and Investment of Norway and the Minister of Commerce of Thailand just before the FTA conclusion. Both sides would also attempt to maximize the benefits of the concluded FTA for the peoples of the two countries. In addition, Ambassador Nitivadee informed Thailand's intention to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Iceland this year and sought for support from Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland. The other issue of discussion included Geo-Politics and international economic situation.
After the three aboved meetings, Ambassador Nitivadee presented a copy of Letter of Credence to Mrs. Katrin Einarsdottir, Chief of Protocol of Iceland before proceeding to the Residence of the President for the ceremony of Presentation of Credentials.
