Birth Certificate
Thai nationals who have children born in Norway or Iceland have the rights to register birth at the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo to obtain a Thai birth certificate.
Required document(s)
- Birth Registration Form (in Thai language only)
- A birth certificate in English from Norwegian or Icelandic authorities
- Birth in Norway

Birth in Iceland

The Icelandic birth certificate must be legalized by the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs (utanríkisráðherra)

- Birth in Norway
- A birth report from the hospital where the child was born

The birth report must contain the mother’s name, date and time of the birth, a birth weight, or certificates from the hospital providing this information. If you do not have a birth report, you must bring ‘‘EPIKRISE’’ (epicrisis) from the clinic.

- A copy of Thai ID card of Thai parent(s)
- A copy of house registration of Thai parent(s)
- A marriage certificate

If the applicant does not have a marriage certificate and the child uses the father’s surname, the applicant must include the Testimony of Biological Father. (Testimony of Biological Father must be legalized by Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs before it can be submitted to the Thai Embassy)

Once the document review is completed, the Embassy will arrange an appointment for birth registration.
