On 1 August 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy organised the "Experience Thailand: A Culinary Showcase" event at Torget, right in the heart of Molde. The initiative aimed to promote the rich heritage of Thai cuisine among the Norwegian public and international visitors.

 

On this occasion, H.E. Ms. Nitivadee Manitkul, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, joined the event and personally distributed samples of authentic Thai dishes to the public. Chefs from the Ambassador’s Residence presented a live culinary demonstration featuring two vibrant dishes: Som Tum (Green Papaya Salad), Thailand's globally renowned dish, and Mang Korn Kab Kaew or "Crystal Dragon" (Mandarin Orange Topped with Sweet and Savory Caramelized Minced Pork and Peanuts)—a rare and exquisite traditional Royal Thai appetizer.

 

Furthermore, to support local Thai gastronomy, the Embassy proudly collaborated with a local Thai restaurant in Molde to serve the classic street food favourite, Pad Thai (Stir-Fried Rice Noodles).

 

The showcase was a resounding success, drawing over 200 attendees. All complimentary tasting portions were enthusiastically claimed by the crowd within just a couple of hours.
