On Saturday, 8 August 2026, H.E. Ms. Nitivadee Manitkul, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Kingdom of Norway, presided over a ceremonial homage and offering of tribute at the Royal Monument of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) in Brevik, Kingdom of Norway.
Brevik was one of the places visited by His Majesty King Chulalongkorn during His historic state visit to Norway in 1907, when His Majesty stayed in Norway for approximately one month.
During the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Nitivadee expressed her profound gratitude for the immense royal benevolence of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, whose visionary leadership laid the foundation for the enduring and close relations between Thailand and Norway that have continued to flourish to this day.
The Ambassador also expressed her deep sense of honour and gratitude for having been entrusted with the opportunity to serve as Thailand’s Ambassador to Norway. She affirmed her steadfast commitment, throughout her tenure, to further strengthening and advancing the long-standing friendship and multifaceted relations between Thailand and Norway.
In particular, H.E. Ambassador Nitivadee reaffirmed her determination to promote greater awareness among the Norwegian public of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn’s enduring legacy and immense contribution to the longstanding ties between the two countries, which date back to His historic visit to Norway.
Thailand has also maintained a longstanding friendship with Norway since Norway gained its independence in 1905. The celebration of the 120th Anniversary of Thailand–Norway Diplomatic Relations, held at Oslo City Hall in November 2025—the venue where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded—as well as the change of colour of the Royal Thai Embassy building in July 2026, were undertaken as expressions of profound gratitude and reverence for His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, and as a tribute to His enduring legacy and immeasurable contributions to the close and longstanding relations between Thailand and Norway.
