On 15 August 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo held a merit-making ceremony to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Embassy’s chancery. The Embassy invited the Most Venerable Phra Ratwachirasatsanavithes, Abbot of Wat Thai Norway and Chairman of the Union of Thai Sanghas in Europe, together with Buddhist monks from Wat Thai Norway and Wat Thai Gardermoen, to conduct the Buddhist ceremony.
Representatives of the Thai community in Norway who have supported the Embassy’s work and activities over the past three years were also invited to attend the event.
The Buddhist ceremony included offering food and alms by the officials and the Thai community to monks as well as chanting of blessings.
On this occasion, Her Excellency Ambassador Nitivadee Manitkul, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, presided over the Buddhist ceremony. Ambassador Nitivadee also offered food and robes to the Buddhist monks.
During the ceremony, the Abbot of Wat Thai Norway gave a blessing to Ambassador Nitivadee in recognition of her tireless efforts to promote bilateral relations between Thailand and Norway and also expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Nitivadee’s continued support for the activities of the Thai community and Thai Buddhist temples in Norway.
The Abbot of Wat Thai Norway also sprinkled holy water on the participants and inscribed an auspicious blessing at the entrance to the Embassy’s chancery.
The building was constructed in the early 1900s and prior to the occupation of the Embassy, was originally painted in white, and repainted in yellow following renovation. In July 2026, the building of the Embassy was repainted in pink in humble tribute to the boundless royal benevolence of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V), who established the foundations of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Norway in 1905, followed by His Majesty King Chulalongkorn's historic visit to Norway in 1907.
