On 27 February, 2025, Ambassador Nitivadee Manitkul accompanied H.E. Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance to the meeting with Ms. Ragnhild Sjoner Syrstad, Secretary of State to the Minister of Trade and Industry of Norway at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries in Oslo. The Thai delegation at the meeting was composed of Mr. Peeraphan Korthong, Director-General of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, President, Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) and Mr. Mahesuan Kruewan, Senior Expert on International Financial and Fiscal Policies.

 

Issues were discussed including the procedure of ratification of the signed Thailand-EFTA FTA by the two Parliaments to bring the FTA effective, increase of bilateral trade and investment, elimination and reduction of the obstacles to business opportunities as well as ASEAN-EFTA cooperation.

 

The meeting was the highlight of the visit to Norway of the Deputy Minister of Finance as the Chairman of BAAC Board to exchange views with public, private and academic sectors in Norway. The visit of the Deputy Minister of Finance is the first Ministerial level’s visit to Norway from Thailand in nearly the past 10 years.
