On 19 July 2025, Ms. Pornchanok Srasrom, Counsellor, along with Ms. Primprapa Dachpan, Second Secretary, and staff of the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo, participated in the Thai Festival in Brevik 2025. The event was attended by Mr. Petter Jørgense, Mayor of Bamle; Ms. Lilian Elise Esborg Bergane, Deputy Mayor of Porsgrunn; Mr. Jørn Inge Næss, Deputy Mayor of Skien; as well as over 200 Thai and Norwegian participants from Brevik and nearby areas.
The Thai Festival in Brevik, now in its 15th year, is organised annually by the Thai Language and Cultural Association in Grenland and the Thai community in Telemark. The event commemorates the visit of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) to Brevik in 1907. This year also marked a special occasion—the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Norway.
The Royal Thai Embassy has supported the event for the fourth consecutive year. Activities included a merit-making ceremony through food offerings to monks, a wreath-laying ceremony at the King Chulalongkorn monument, and cultural performances by youth and members of Thai cultural associations in Grenland, the Thai-Norwegian Language and Culture Association (TNSK) and the Thai Dance and Music Club in Norway. Additionally, the Norwegian group Norskdomslaget Porsgrunn performed traditional Norwegian folk dance (Folkedans). There were also booths selling Thai food and products, games and lucky draws, which brought great enjoyment to the crowds.
