On 18 July 2026, Ambassador Nitivadee Manitkul assigned Mrs. Hathaikahn Roekchamnong, Minister Counsellor, Mr. Peerapatra Puspavesa, Counsellor, and staff members of the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo to attend the 2026 Thai Festival in Brevik. The festival was organized by the Thai Fair Association (Thai Fair Forening) and the Thai community in Brevik. Mr. Petter Jørgensen, Mayor of Bamble, Mr. Marius Roheim Aarvold, Mayor of Skien, together with representatives from Porsgrunn and Brevik Municipalities attended the event.
This marked the 14th Thai Festival in Brevik, organized by the Thai community since 2011.
At the beginning of the event, representatives of the Royal Thai Embassy, together with members of the Thai community, offered food to Buddhist monks from Wat Thai Norway who participated in the festival. The Embassy's representatives then joined the walking parade, together with the Mayors, local representatives, and members of the Thai community, from the Brevik Museum to the statue of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, where they participated in a wreath-laying ceremony.
During the opening ceremony, Minister Counsellor Hathaikahn, on behalf of Ambassador Nitivadee Manitkul, expressed her gratitude to the Thai community and the organizers for inviting the Royal Thai Embassy to participate in the festival, and for organizing such a wonderful event to promote Thai culture and Thailand's soft power. She also highlighted the importance of the longstanding friendship between Thailand and Norway, noting that both countries celebrated the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations last year. Furthermore, she expressed her hope that the festival would continue to grow and inspire Thai communities across Norway to promote Thai culture.
The Royal Thai Embassy would like to express its sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this event.
