On 29 August 2023, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, hosted a dinner in honour of H.E. Mrs. Astrid Emilie Helle, Ambassador of Norway to Thailand, at the Thai Residence, on Ambassador Helle’s visit to Oslo to attend the Annual Meeting of Norwegian Ambassadors from around the world. Guests included H.E. Ms. Bente Angell-Hansen, former Secretary General, Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mrs. Ragne Birte Lund, former Ambassador of Norway to Thailand, Mr. Jen Frydenberg Reinertsen, Deputy Director and Head of Section for East Asia and Oceania, Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Axel Blom, President of the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce.

On this occasion, Ambassador Vimolbajra exchanged views with Ambassador Helle on the promotion of cooperation and collaboration between the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo and the Norwegian Embassy in Thailand, particularly in strengthening of people-to-people relations, including the Project Promoting Potential Development of Thai Massage in Norway, cooperation in providing knowledge and useful information for Thai nationals traveling to Norway, an internship program for Thai students at the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo, and the promotion of visitors for tourism purpose, particularly a proposal to have an Agreement on Visa Exemption for Holders of Ordinary Passports between Thailand and Norway. Ambassador Helle has expressed her positive views on these cooperation projects and proposals.

Ambassador Vimolbajra also discussed and exchanged views with Ambassador Helle and other guests on cooperation between Thailand and Norway, including the satisfactory progress of the Thai – EFTA FTA negotiations as well as the development of political situation in Thailand and other regional issues. Ambassador Helle expressed her congratulations on the successful outcome of Thailand’s general election on 14 May 2023 in which many Thais had exercised their vote and the election went smoothly.
