During 17-18 June, 2025, Ambassador Nitivadee Manitkul, Ambassador of Thailand to Iceland with the residence in Oslo paid a visit to Iceland to attend the ceremony of Iceland's National Day's Celebration upon the invitation by the Government of Iceland. The ceremony began with a religious service at Domkirkjan ( Cathedral of Reykjavik) followed by the ceremony at Austurvollur Square. Ambassador Nitivadee also attended a buffet luncheon hosted by H.E. Ms. Porgerour Katrin Gunnarsdottir, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland and subsequently joined the meeting with H.E. Ms. Halla Tomasdottir, President of Iceland.
During the luncheon, the Minister mentioned of her visits to Thailand where she enjoyed Thai food, Thai tourist spots as well as admires Thai people. Ambassador Nitivadee informed her of the importance of 2025, the year both Thailand and Iceland celebrate 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations; therefore, the Thai Embassy is planning to arrange Thai food event to mark the celebration. The Minister expressed her readiness to render support for this.
Ambassador Nitivadee also joined the excursion on Snaefellsness peninsula arranged by the Ministry of Iceland for the foreign Ambassadors to learn more about Iceland.
